I wrote to the dean and she told me that it's nice to see a student that is so proactive.
I am slowly giving doses of what it means to be frum, B"H she seems to get it. I am less than thrilled that the clinical is on a friday, but I can always cook the night before. I always show respect and balance, etc.

B"H I just heard the clinicals are Wednesdays and Fridays for second half of semester... pain because it's friday, but means I only miss one clinical, so not so bad!

Shavuos falls on a Wednesday and thursday, that means I am missing two clinical days.
Pesach I am missing 3 lectures (two tests) and one clinical. B"H because i went early to the professor, he is willing to let me take the tests late. Clinical professor is understanding and said it should be fine.
But I am not sure, because in my nursing school manual it says one absence from clinic is ok but not two.
I emailed the dean...will see

I am volunteering at a local hospital, with the hopes of gaining connections so that when I finish people will know me and like working with me. One of the other volunteers, that just signed up, is an actual RN as in New Grad. No one will even look at her, because she's an associates degree with a GPA of a 3.4. This hospital has a 3.6 guidelines and a bachelors for hiring! Evidently the shortage is over, and it makes me nervous about finding a job when I am done in 2 years. yes in two years it could change, but I am going for my ADN RN because my GPA is not good enough for a BSN. My current GPA is 3.7, but when you add all my previous GPA's (including the ones where my ex husband went insane and I flunked a bunch of courses ). It pulls my GPA down, and the requirement for BSN was around a 3.5 +. My only hope is an ADN to BSN, which sometimes makes an exception of 2.8 for entrance.

I come across as a very strong person, as a result people are turning to me.
The really mean woman in my group, Nominated me to be president. I was so in shock that I said I guess, until I realized it was a lot to do. B"H someone stepped in a did it for me, but then my professor gave me a dirty look for "passing the buck" so to speak.
I just feel like now my professor is looking down on me, and I am really not that strong. I just shield well.
"sigh" I hope this mean one is gone soon, she stresses me and reaks of smoke.
I am happy to have gotten a 90 on my first quiz and 85 on first exam.

I ended up with an 85 on my first exam, and then we went over a review.
The same woman I posted about above, complained that the teacher had poorly written one of the questions and the teacher went nutz! Not sure how much longer she will last.
That's the worst thing to do after the first test! I was happy I got an 85, two questions were written the wrong way so he gave us credit for those. It looks like he graded the first quiz wrong as well so I ended up with an 85 instead of a 90, but it was the entire class so he's going to adjust everyone so I am hopeful it will be fixed asap.

I am hiding behind a pile of notes and books until Tuesday, first exam. According to other students I have to just listen to his lectures until I can say them verbatum and then I will pass his class.. nice no?

Clinical skills are fun! I do have this one woman in my class who has a bad attitude, everything is like "it's hard for us old dogs to learn new tricks." We keep telling her that we have to do it this way, because it's the way they want it done. Once your in the hospital you have to do it the way they want. I got a 90 on my first quiz and a 97 on this online how to test for nursing school quiz we had to do. She got a 70 and kept saying "it's impossible to test, you young people think like young people." I did not want to say to her, I am not so young but whatever. all and all I have a nice group for my clinics But as of now we are 38 out of 40, two dropped already Who would wait that long to get in just to drop out!?

btw they let me wear a skirt, as long as I wear pants under it. Just incase my clinical instructor has an issue with a skirt so I can quickly change. Even though I am sweating like crazy.

I survived the first week, but omg my anxiety was so high!!
when we were testing pulse ox machines, the teacher made us get in front of the class and role play. I was so nervous that my pulse went to 107!!!
Now I am trying hard to calm down, and I cannot seem to calm down!
any suggestions?
