Mazal Tov!! This is very exciting!
And a few tips after 35 years in the business: remember, no kvetching when you are the newbie! Listen twice as often as you speak. Keep both eyes open and keep up with note writing every day so you don't get mixed up and watch the meds very carefully.
You never gave up and look what good things were sent your way!

Offer was retracted. They decided to go with someone else. And I am increasingly realizing that there is no future for me in nursing.

Chayan, Can they do that?? That sounds terrible! Is it legal to offer and then almost a week later rescind? What kind of baloney is that- "they are going with somebody else"? So why did they extend the job offer to begin with? Had you signed anything with them yet? Seriously I have seen the opposite where they fired a nurse based on a better one signing on and then the new nurse changes her mind to the facility is quickly calling the fired nurse to come back- but never what you described. This is a huge nisayon and Hashem had better open some fancy windows quick... So So sorry- believe me my heart aches for you. Increasing my tefillot for you, and wishing you all the patience. Please keep on trying and keep sending resumes etc. Open your eyes and extend your comfort zone to other venues. Perhaps Hashem has other plans for you than you think.

the offer was verbal, over the phone, and nothing in writing. I should have known better than to celebrate and spread the news until it was confirmed. I dont' think there is any legal impediment for them doing what they did although it's not what I would consider ethical or professional. They claimed they really needed someone who could speak Spanish. Oh, then why didn't you figure that out before?
I'm still trying to work through this and figure out what the future holds for me. Today I went to the ER with very severe abdominal pain -- I have never had pain this bad even during labor. The pain resolved on its own and all tests were normal, which makes me think it was due to stress. I am going to have to figure out better ways to manage my anxiety.
Thank you all for your support and prayers -- they help!

Chaya,
I know you are very disappointed. I think that most of us have had something like this happen. Please don't give up. Nursing needs you and I think that Orthodox patients need you. So, how about trying some agency nursing and/or some school nursing (via an agency). It will be something to put on your resume in the meantime and not take up all your "looking" time. Can you volunteer at the local day school with the nurse? (Please remember to buy nursing malpractice insurance. NSO has a reasonable ($80/year) policy with excellent coverage limits.
Chamomile tea is great for stomach pain and, if you don't mind my suggesting it, yoga (hatha or some other similar, non-strenous - as in - No Bikram or Ashtanga) can really help. I go twice a week -- 7 a.m. :-)
Hang in there!
Bobbie
