Thanks for the info - my kids are young, ranging in age from 5y-9y, so who knows what things will be like in a year or two. I was just trying to figure out what the tutors were for. I will need a tutor for myself!

Thanks achot - I have been looking on their website today. I am going to complete my BSN here regardless if we make aliyah.
Can I ask about the tutors for my kids? Do you mean to help them with Hebrew? Their school is Hebrew Immersion for half of the day Ivrit B'Ivrit, so they are doing pretty well Hebrew language wise.

I know that this has been discussed before, but I was hoping for a refresher. Can anyone either tell me or tell me where to look to find out the info needed about being an RN in Israel.
I graduated form nursing school back in December with my Associates in nursing. Well, here in the NY/NJ area that is not good enough. I have a previous BA degree, but no one cares for that. I have been struggling to find a job. I do have a camp nurse job, but nothing lined up for after that. I am considering going back to school, but I want to be sure I am choosing the right program.
My husband and I have been tossing around the aliyah idea since we graduated form college over 10years ago. We were actually approved in 2002 and had the paperwork, but then decided to hold off.
We have 4 elementary aged children and yeshiva tuition is crushing us. We also know that in 4 years we will need to face high school costs for 4 and that is impossible. So, aliyah has come up again.
Any info would be appreciated.

Rivka - I spent 3 years earing my RN while having 4 kids, ranging in age from 2y-5y when I began. So, yes, you can do anything you want, you just need to be organized and focused.

I know that nursing school is stressful for everyone. I just graduated and I have 4 young children and it was a wild ride. However, if your husband is cursing at you and doing things that you have asked him not to do and you cannot have an honest discussion together and come up with a solution TOGETHER, you need some marriage counseling. A marriage is a partnership and no one person's needs are more important than the others.
You need to work together to get through school and marriage.

I have had this issue many times in nursing school. I always alerted the school at least a semester in advance. Then, I would speak to each professor to find out which parts of the syllabus would be covered. Even though I spent Pesach 2 hrs form my school, I came back for class on Chol HaMoed. Last year I was only there for one of 6 lectures for my first exam. It was hard and I didn't so well on that exam, but in the end it all worked out. For me, I had to make up clinical; days which took a lot of advance planning. Do you have to do this?
It will be okay, just make sure you are very open about everything and dont give them a chance to tell you that you cant make it up.

I am sorry that you are having such a hard time. I am sure it is hard to sit through the exact same thing again. Sadly, a lot of my friends had to repeat a class and I know they were bored. But, they focused on just getting through it and doing their best so they could move on. I dont think a different school would be all that different. I had MAJOR problems with my school, ranging from Shabbat observance, to cheating, to favoritism, etc . . .I was a top student and it didnt always matter. I am just waiting to pass my NCLEX so I can lodge a formal complaint. I would just do your best to get through it.

Sadly, even though we live in a very Jewish area, people see it and immediately think, oh, this person will need to take off these days or not be able to work Fri/Saturday or whatever they are thinking. I went to school here in a very Jewish area and they acted as though a Jew had never passed by them. I suffered a lot of discrimination from Professors in my program.
However, my Jewish teaching experience is relevant as it shows organization and leadership which is why it is on my resume.

I am sorry you are having such a hard time. I just graduated last month and have been applying for months with no luck yet.
Have you looked in upstate NY? I have heard they are hiring. We are tied to the NYC area due to my husbands job and also the fact that I have 4 children, but if we were not, I would move in a heartbeat.
I too have a Jewish name and have Jewish Organizations as jobs but my theory is that any organization I want to work for will have to look past that. In addition, I only have recent relevant work experience, not experience form 10 years ago that is totally unrelated.
Good Luck on your search.
