Would you recommend nursing as a profession to your children ?

In principle, yes; but I don't think it really suits any of them.
One is going into PT though, starting this fall.

Yes, I think I would. It's an exciting, gratifying job that pays well and usually has flexible hours. Important things for frum people.

I don't have any kids right now, but I would. I recommend nursing as a profession to other people. Mostly for the same reasons Rivka mentioned. My parents are both nurses and they never PUSHED us into nursing (coming home after bad nights would prolly have been a discouragement to go into the field) but it certainly gave me many opportunities to see the good they are able to do in this world as nurses. And if you ever do get bored in one area of nursing, there are soo many more to choose from.

to stray off the topic, my father is a teacher and it showed me how I really don't want to be a teacher because of all the preparation necessary at home. I am so glad that as a nurse, I can leave work at work, because I know there's another nurse there now who is responsible for my patients.

What a luxury to leave work at work, as ADON, I get called all the time with problems. but I guess I get paid for that, and if I wanted I could shut my phone off, I just prefer to nip problems in the bud or I find them growing bigger by the time I arrive... My husband wanted to go into his fathers field and was greatly discouraged by his parents, what a mistake!!, he did what they told him to do and it really wasn't for him,. I feel he would have been happier had he followed in his fathers footsteps/ profession. They meant well...
