I just got my first job offer (after 9 months of applying everywhere) with Maimonides Hospital the only issue is that I have to start orientation the week of shavuos (so I would miss 2 days). Do I tell them now or do I wait to sign my contract to tell them I can't be there for a Jewish Holiday? Any help appreciated!

I would guess that the religious issue didnt come up on interview, if so, I dont think you are obligated to tell them. If it did and they know that you are not coming in for Shabbasim and Jewish CHagim then it is obvious. In any event the job offer isnt based on your commitment to being there for every day of orientation although it is obviously in your best interest. When they officially give you your orientation schedule I would then tell them that you cant come in those two days but take upon myself to make them up. I would also do my best to show that I am an exemplary employee, coming on time, dressed appropriately, being active in your orientation etc so that they are willing to overlook your inability to come in those two days. Good luck! Does anyone else have experience with this?
