Dear Rivka,
Thanks for doing this!
I saw someone mention have a conference a few months back on the group's facebook page. The survey was very short and easy to fill out.
Can we send the link to schools of nursing like NYU, Columbia, Kingsborough Community, Touro, Stern, and schools in Philly, etc.?
Can JAWS also send the link on?

Yah I guess we just need to get in touch with people in authority over there who can share it with their frum students. University of Pennsylvania is also another good school to contact. NYU and Johns Hopkins both have joint programs with Stern. I can get in touch with the nursing advisor over there to have him share this info with them.

Can we try to get Dr. Chaya Greenberg or someone else from Machon Tal?

She would make a great keynote speaker. Depending upon interest in the conference (and budget), she could either come in person and speak first thing in the morning to start things off for the day OR we could do a video broadcast from her office at Machon Tal to the conference site. Obviously in person would be better. If she could speak to creating a nursing curriculum that included Halakhic matters in nursing, that would be something really unusual.
She is very easily reachable by the link at Machon Tal, however, I would not consider that we contact her before we figure out if the body of OJN who attend the Facebook page and the boards, including all of our nursing student members are going to attend. It would be pretty embarrassing to invite such a big person to a non-event.
Great idea!

I have e-mailed the link and possible conference idea to my contacts at:
Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan Several Orthodox Jewish Nurses at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center NYU Medical Center Downstate Medical Center
Professors at:
Queensborough Community College City Tech Community College NYU School of Nursing Lehman College Hunter College
I sent a brief e-mail through the Chabad.org website with the links as well.
The e-mail asked each person to register on the Facebook site and to visit the message boards by communicating via message to Rivka and to complete the survey and to pass it on!
Rivka, please keep us posted! If you could keep the survey open for a month and send periodic reminders, that would be great!
Yeshiva week vacation is usually in January. If folks can call their local yeshivot and find out when the vacation period is for 2013, that would be a help. I'll call Manhattan Day School and Ramaz.

There were 10 frum nurses in my class alone... and I could send an email to them asking them to forward it to their contacts.

Chaya,
That would be so great! If 10 folks each know two people, that's 30 more folks. A snowball effect! The more the merrier.
