Three options below for my continuing education..
A. I am going through remediation at my current nursing school. Honestly it's crappy what they are putting me through, and it's going to ruin my kids winter vacation if I do this. It's a 5 week remediation from Jan 5-Feb 3. Issue is.. We already planned to go on a family vacation during winter break, this was prior to my whole fiasco with nursing school and that EVIL teacher. In the end the school sided with her, and I had to brown nose and beg for another chance. So my "punishment" is this remediation course, and I had to sign an agreement to not miss one day or I never get another chance at nursing school.
My husband is less than thrilled at option A, because basically it ruins the kids and his vacation plans. I feel bad as well.
B. Apply to another college and get a basic bachelors degree in health science. Then apply to another RN program which is for people that have a bachelors degree in something other than nursing.
C. Apply to another nursing program, BSN and hope that I get in.
What do you think??

Malki, I honestly wouldn't put the family vacation plans ahead of your education. This is ONE vacation, there will be others, and you can make it up to them in other ways. The vacation is a short-term consideration while finishing your education is long-term. The question to consider though is whether this is the best school for you or whether one of the other options might be a better educational fit, which I couldnt' comment on without knowing more details.

This is what my husband is saying... That my current school is so negative, so unsupportive of it's students. It is also an associate degree, not bachelors... so he feels like I am killing myself over an associate degree. B. The second choice is a bachelors degree in health science, and that same college has a program where you can go from a basic bachelors to a bachelor/masters in nursing. yes it will be a couple of years longer, but thanks to the economy Associate degree graduates are not really finding jobs and I am going to have to go on for my bachelors anyway. C. I just got through to the third option of a bachelors program alone.. I missed the deadline for one of the programs (december 1st), the second one has a deadline of Feb 2nd, and even then they only accept 10 transfer students a year! This school also has a bachelors program for a second degree in nursing, so I could apply there also once my basic bachelors is done.

Options B and C both sound good to me.. that's basically what I chose to do -- I earned a bachelor's in Human Development and worked on my nursing school pre-reqs at the same time (which counted toward the bachelor's) instead of going straight into an ADN program. In this market, you're right, it's hard even for new grad BSNs to find work, let alone ADNs.

Malkie No one can really make this decision for you, its really something you have to work out with your husband, there are obvious pluses and minuses to both situations and am sure once you have sat and written out the pro and con lists you will be clearer what they are. Please remember that what is good for one may not be what is good for another. TBTW are the courses that you already took at the first college transferable to another program? Good Luck!

well options B & C have not gotten back to me as to if these are even options.... I left messages, and sent emails and no response as of yet.
So for now I am doing option A until I hear otherwise...
I have an appt for Jan 6th for one of the other options...

Malkie The Ramban allowed chillul SHabbat for the purposes of Sakanat Nefashot using the reasoning that it is better to "lose" one SHabbat in order to "keep" it for many more. May you only lose one family vacation in order to have many many more together. This too is chinuch banim. I can not begin to enumerate the many things my family has "lost" because of my chosen career, however if put on a scale- what they have "gained" is so much more. They acknowledge this. Again I reiterate, dont take stupid things that outsiders ( like me) tell you - sometimes better to lose a career option and protect your family. Good luck with it all and may your options improve.

Keep trying because sometimes people "dont get messages" dont think you are being a nudnik, and dont depend on getting messages. check if there is another phone contact number
