Does anyone know of any jobs in NY (preferably Bklyn but will travel if needed) that will hire a new grad? So far in the months since i've gotten my NY license I've found out that nobody wants to hire an RN without experience. I'll even work in a Doctor's office, if anyone knows a Dr. who is looking to hire. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I'm getting a little desperate ) Thanks!

I'm afraid I don't. Want to live/work in a community with no Jewish schools, no eruv, no minyan most of the time, a very rustic mikvah, and the rav of the beit midrash is a luftmensch? ;D
Even so I don't know if the local hospital has jobs.
Hashem should bless you with ever success and every thing that you need!

Luftmensch nonetheless, it sounds like a lovely opportunity except for the part that there are no known job openings and I get the impression that new nurses are dying for their first job. In all seriousness have you considered LTC? nursing homes and the like or OHEL and MISHKAN? the pay might be less but the work can be quite rewarding and help you get your foot in the door for better positions.
I will daven for you but please know that if you want the market in Israel is wide open...

Are you open to per diem work? Try: rninsider.com/new_york_nursing_jobs.htmIt might not be something but who knows? Maybe some summer camp is looking for a nurse, I did that for a couple of summers and it was a blast!...not much moolah but an enjoyable experience. Good Luck

Last year I applied to camps. They all want a nurse with ER experience. It would have been great. You get free cooked food, free camp for the kids, free utilities and more.

Hi again. I'll say it again- you're welcome to work at my hospital. Send me your resume, and I'll submit it. I started here fresh out of nsg school.

mypprincess: I have not encountered camps that want ER experience. I am IYH working at nesher, and I also was in touch with a few other camps, none of whom mentioned anything about the ER. Are you still interested in camp?

Are you still interested in camp? B"H I already have a well-paid, full-time job with insurance. It is not possible to take a 2 month leave at this time. My kids are not going to camp. They are not interested in sports. When they were younger they used to come home red-faced complaining that they hate to have to play in the heat. They would rather sit indoors doing arts & crafts, go with us on a small vacation, or whatever together as a family. Last year they stayed home and it was very successful. One of my nieces stayed with us for 5 weeks as her personal sleep-away camp experience. This year it will be harder as I am working full-time, but none of my kids are interested to go to camp. I will buy them plenty of crafts to do when I'm not home, they have their bikes, trampoline, roller blades, etc. that they can also use. On Fridays when I don't work we will be able to go out. We can bake cookies and play games when I get home from work. I do plan to hire plenty of cleaning help so I can spend as much time with them instead of cleaning. Last year my 2 younger boys made their own blankets. It took them a full month to finish it. They were so proud.

I started out in Maimo as a new grad about a year and a half ago. Sometimes they say that they don't hire newbies, but I think that it's just an excuse. You just need to keep applying until they are looking to hire, if you give in an application when they are hiring they are likely to hire whomever they can get. Good Luck and dont give up. You worked hard to become certified, you deserve the best!

I'm not graduating until August but I'm also on the lookout for any leads in NYC... I'm willing to consider upstate as well, if you know of any openings there...

Did you check out the nursing magazines? Try "Nursing Spectrum", or "advance for NURSES" Start applying now and don't get discouraged if it takes a little longer than you would like. There is an annual nursing job fair in Madison Square Garden. It is always advertised in the nursing magazines. When you apply and get a negative reply or no reply at all, try again in a few weeks. Although the hospitals promise they will notify you when they have an available position they most often don't. And when the job is available they will interview those that apply then. This is how I was hired to the place I work now. I applied several times and was told each time that they are not hiring at the moment. The 3d or 4th time I applied, I got the job. Happy hunting, and lots of hatslacha!

Thanks, princess.
But I'm not graduating until August, and won't sit for the NCLEX until October. Is it worth it to start applying for jobs now? Is anyone going to hold a job for me for 6 months?
